Shure MV7X, the analog XLR-only version of the MV7 dual-output XLR/USB mic. This is a high-quality, broadcast-style dynamic microphone designed to work with any XLR mic input, no phantom power required. The Shure MV7X fulfills the needs of anyone who desires a smooth, robust vocal sound akin to the infamous SM7B, but at a significantly lower price point. Knowing that at-home podcasters may not have acoustic treatment in their rooms, Shure chose to utilize a cardioid polar pattern for the MV7X. This unidirectional polar response primarily picks up sound in front of the mic while greatly reducing the capture of background noise behind the mic. The built-in pop filter helps control vocal plosives without relying on an external pop screen. Sturdy metal construction makes the MV7X a rugged and dependable performer.
MV7X vs MV7
The MV7X is an XLR-only version of the MV7 XLR/USB podcast microphone; it offers the same mic element and physical construction, minus the digital features. While the sonic signature is identical, the price point is even lower for users who only need the XLR connectivity.
Legendary Broadcast Sound
The mic takes its design and sonic cues from the Shure SM7B, a classic used on countless podcasts and radio broadcasts. Use the mic in close proximity to your voice and you'll find it exhibits a clear, intelligible, and high-quality sound with a frequency response optimized for rich and natural vocal reproduction.
Works with XLR Inputs, No Power Required
Outfitted with a traditional XLR 3-pin output, the MV7X can connected to any XLR mic input, whether it's on an audio interface, an external mic preamp, or a mixer. No power source is required for the MV7X because it is a dynamic microphone, so forget about needing to engage phantom power like you would for a condenser mic.
Rugged Appointments for Sound and Use
Like the SM7B, the MV7 has a built-in pop filter to protect against plosives and p-pops, greatly simplifying your editing process. With its integrated ready-to-mount yoke with 5/8" threading, the mic offers a build quality that is rugged, with an all-metal construction for reliability in mission-critical circumstances.
Unidirectional Polar Pattern for the Untreated Room
The mic features a unidirectional cardioid polar pattern, which is the best natural defense against room noise: since the capsule mostly captures what's directly in front of it, you won't pick up as much room noise as you would with another polar pattern. Depending on your particular room, you may still need a little room treatment, or some noise-reduction software, to address issues such as your computer's hum or your air conditioner—but the chances of that are markedly lower with a cardioid polar pattern.

AKG C414 XLS Large-Diaphragm Multipattern Condenser Microphone is an industry staple that extends the renowned heritage of the C414 B-ULS. Equipped with nine selectable polar patterns, three attenuation levels, and three switchable bass-cut filters, the C414 XLS remains one of the most versatile condenser microphones for recording vocals, drums, and acoustic and amplified instruments in the studio or on stage. This microphone is designed to closely approximate the sonic character of the vintage C414 B-ULS while providing an updated and expanded feature set. The 1″ edge-terminated, dual-diaphragm transducer combined with the low-noise electronic circuitry provides a wide dynamic range of 134 dB and can handle SPL up to 158 dB, for a detailed, linear, and natural tone. With full immunity to electromagnetic and electrostatic interference as well as high tolerance to humidity, the C414 XLS is well suited to withstand the rigours of demanding studio, stage, and broadcast applications. Special features include a peak-hold LED to alert you if overloading occurs, and a lock mode that prevents unintended changes to the microphone settings. The package includes a vibration-inhibiting shock mount, a pop filter, and a metal carrying case.

AKG’s Legendary 1″ Large-Diaphragm Capsule

The legendary C414 is a tool found in most recording studios and has been used on thousands of hit records; it’s been on stage with artists of every musical genre and is also used by leading broadcast facilities the world over. The C414 family has been one of the world’s most widely used and respected studio and stage microphones in audio history. Added useful features and even greater ease of use make the XLS a worthy member of the renowned C414 line. The C414 XLS maintains the sonic character of the legendary C414 B-ULS, the most popular AKG C414 version since 1971.

Nine Selectable Polar Patterns

The C414 XLS is the multi-instrumentalist in your microphone rig ready to fill in wherever needed. Whether it’s Omni, wide cardioid, cardioid, hyper-cardioid, figure-8, or the four intermediate polar patterns, there are plenty of ways to get the most natural sound from any instrument—electric and acoustic guitars, drums, and much more. Employ a hyper-cardioid pattern to reduce drum spill, then quickly switch to a figure-8 pattern to balance out two vocalists. These easy-to-access options make the AKG C414 XLS suitable for any studio with limited space in its mic locker.

Overload-Detection LED and Bass-Cut Filter

The AKG C414 XLS empowers you to make better recordings. When acting as both artist and engineer, the mic’s overload-detection LED makes it easy to see when your input levels are too high. This helps you take full advantage of the mic’s dynamic range and only engage the pad when necessary. Its bass-cut filter helps you curb rumbles, vibrations, and loud, boomy sounds and minimizes the proximity effect for balanced recordings. For live sound applications and permanent installations, all controls can easily be disabled for trouble-free use.

Rugged Metal Housing

The all-metal body ensures efficient rejection of RF interference so you can use the microphone near transmitter stations, along with wireless microphones or other communications equipment.
